Customer success story: Hudson Bread

It’s a classic American success story: A European immigrant impressed upscale hotels and restaurants with his Old World recipes. Over the next 15 years, Hudson Bread became the premier supplier of artisanal baked goods in the Northeast. Financing from GE Capital helped him rise to the top.

The proof is in the bread

When Mark Kolodziej opened a small commercial bakery in New York City in 1994, his baguettes and focaccias quickly impressed the likes of the famed ‘21 Club.’ In 2003, he had grown enough to transfer production to a 50,000 square foot facility in North Bergen, N.J. Later, he opened a second one to penetrate the Philadelphia market.

When Mark’s growing business required new equipment, GE Capital brought more than money to the table. We put our structuring expertise to work so Hudson Bread was able to preserve its local banking relationship and, along with it, its working capital line of credit. Lending against Hudson Bread’s fixed assets, GE Capital provided $1.5 million in true lease equipment financing to help the company to continue to grow.
As Mark considers the location of his next expansion, GE Capital is standing by.
